In the last 3 years, I probably attended more than 30 free events, ranging from menu tasting, archery, to photography class. At the same time, I can also make new friends and get some freebies. Can you guess how?
Note that
In most event, they often organize lottery or photo contest where participants can get prizes. So far, I've won prizes ranging from $10 to $75.
If you are a foodie and want to contribute to the community, I'll suggest you start putting your reviews down.

All it takes is to be a Yelp Elite member. There's no specific criteria on how to become one but a wise rule is to be active in the Yelp community. For example:
- Writing reviews periodically (doesn't have to be for restaurant)
- "Checking" into places
- Bookmarking new places
- Friending new people
- Complementing people's reviews
- Answering questions
- Uploading pictures
Note that
- This Elite status is not guaranteed and you have to be active in order to have your status renewed each year.
- You can attend to these events even if you are not a Yelp Elite members. However, the competition may be tougher as there are much more non-Yelp Elite members.
- Signing up for these events does not guarantee you a spot as the Yelp community manager will prioritize more active members.
